Game day is here! Today’s podcast will preview the sold out game versus Orlando and feature an interview with midfielder Tori Huster.

Caitlin Buckley from Black and Red United joins me to talk how the Spirit and Pride match up.

Directly following that segment is my interview with Tori Huster. Tori talks about her life in soccer, her chemistry with the team, the Orlando game, and which teammate could have their own talk show.

Enjoy the podcast and hopefully I will see you at the Plex!

Week 5 is upon us! The undefeated Washington Spirit look to stay atop the table when they take on Houston Dash.

The Washington Spirit played an intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday in lieu of their originally scheduled preseason match versus University of North Carolina. The Tarheels had to cancel their appearance as they would have been unable to field a team.

The scrimmage ended in a 1-1 draw that prompted penalty kicks. The “white” squad came away with the final decision winning the PK set 3 to 1. Wys had two impressive saves in the shootout giving the White squad the opportunity for a victory.

The scrimmage doesn’t make for much analysis or commentary, so I decided to invite Caitlin Buckley from Black and Red United to join me on the podcast again. Caitlin made her FYS debut last week as we talked preseason and bold predictions. This week, I play a “stats game” with Caitlin. I dug up some stats from the past seasons and quizzed Caitlin. Then, we discussed if those performances could or would repeat this season.

Included stats are:

  • Four teams had 30+ Goals For last year, what do they have in common?
  • What did the first and second place teams have in common record wise?
  • Which two players in the NWSL shot 40+ shots in each of the last 3 seasons?
  • Which player had the best SOG accuracy of those that shot at least 20 shots?
  • Which teams had best and worst SOG percentage?
  • Which teams had the best total SOG against?

Do you know the answers? Check out the podcast!
